SKF Bearings are one of the most popular brands of bearings alongside CODEX and FAG. SKF manufacture virtually every type of bearing for most industrial applications.
SINGLE ROW RADIAL BALL BEARINGS
The most widely used type of bearing as they are versatile, simple in design, suitable for high speeds, and robust in operation. Manufactured in metric and imperial sizes, they range from 3mm to 260mm or 1/8” to 16” bore.
Available in sealed versions which stay lubricated for life. Special types for high temperatures, with special greases, snap rings, and grooves.

Double row radial bearings are similar in design to the single row radial bearings.
The inside and outside diameters correspond to the 62 and 63 series bearings but with a greater width which gives a much higher load carrying capacity.
These bearings have two rows of balls and a common sphered raceway in the outer ring. The self-aligning bearing has the lowest friction of all bearings which allows it to run cooler even at high speeds.
Both metric and imperial sizes are available, ranging from 5mm to 240mm, or 0.5” to 6”.
Single row angular contact bearings are designed to accommodate axial loads acting in one direction only. They are non-separable bearings and commonly have a 40 degree contact angle to support heavy loads.
Matching pairs need to be mounted immediately adjacent to each other and they are available in a wide range of metric and imperial sizes.
Single direction thrust bearings consist of three parts; a shaft washer, a housing washer, and a ball and cage thrust assembly. Each part is separable so mounting is simple.
These bearings can only accommodate thrust and locate a shaft in one direction. They must not be subjected to any radial load. Available in a range of metric and imperial sizes, these bearings come in 3mm to 670mm or 0.25” or 18”.
These bearings are basically a doubled up version of the single thrust bearing. With one shaft washer, two housing washers, and two ball and cage assemblies, each part is separable for simple mounting.
Double direction thrust ball bearings can accommodate thrust in both directions; however they must not be subjected to any radial load. Available in metric sizes from 10mm to 150mm.
Cylindrical roller thrust bearings are ideal for heavy axial loads. They are insensitive to sensitive shock loads, very stiff, and require little axial space. As standard, they are only available as single direction bearings and can only accommodate thrust in one direction.
Available in metric sizes, these bearings range from 15mm to 630mm. Larger sizes can be made to order.
Using a double row of rollers that are thicker in the middle and thinner on the ends, the outer raceway is sphered whilst the inner is shaped to hold the two rows of roller which allows the outer to accommodate misaligned loads.
Taper roller bearings, otherwise known as cup and cone bearings, are designed to handle large axial and radial loads simultaneously.
They are separable components made up of the outer ring known as the cup, and the inner ring which is attached to the cage and rollers known as the cone.
These bearings use a small cylindrical roller inside. A needle bearing has a large surface area that is in contact with the outer surface. There is less added clearance so they are much more compact.
Needle roller bearings come in a wide variety of specifications for different uses. Ask us for more information.
MINIATURE BEARINGS
We stock and supply a comprehensive range of miniature ball bearings.
Metric and imperial bearings are available, typical bore sizes of miniature ball bearings start at 2mm with outside diameters as small as 5mm.
The range incorporates open, closed, shielded or sealed ball bearings also flanged ball bearings.
Miniature bearings are available in chrome steel and stainless steel.
We have a wide selection of ready to mount bearing units available for you. Inserts come in a range of metric and imperial shaft sizes.
There are many different manufacturers of this type of bearing. The original was RHP, now called NSK. The majority of later manufacturers casting dimensions are directly interchangeable with the original RHP unit.
